For my state they are free and easy to file on-line. I do use turbo tax deluxe (with discount) for federal and I too find the "live community" very helpful. I do web design for a living and I think Turbo Tax is one of the best user interfaces I've ever encountered. The live community is one of the reasons I like it, you can get answers quickly, and you can differentiate whether the answer was posted from an expert or simply a member of the community.
