If your groceries bills are creeping up and it’s not just due to food prices, you’re not alone.
Many people don’t optimize their grocery shopping habits to help them get more (quality and quantity) for their hard earned money.
Too many times we’ve been guilty of doing a quick shopping trip on the way home without having a list.
We’ve bought needless items or we found out we had the food items at home, just buried deep within the refrigerator.
It is possible to save some money without having to stress yourself out.
Grocery Shopping Tips
If you want to save money, here are some tips to get you started:
Double-Check your Kitchen before you Head Out
If your kitchen is not organized, you’re more than likely to waste your money. You’ll either get duplicates or some of your food will go bad before you find them again.
Have a system in place so it’ll only take you 5 minutes or less to see what you’re have and what you need to pick up at the grocery store.
Take Advantage of “Double Coupon” Days
Check the store’s website for printable coupons and look through those coupon inserts to see if there are any deals on items you typically purchase.
Some grocery stores have double coupon days, meaning your savings are even bigger without working one bit harder.
Buy a Chest Freezer
Yes, it is money you have to spend upfront, but if used correct;ly, it’ll help you take advantage of incredible deals and lower your overall food bill.
Eat More Fruits/Veggies
I’m not suggesting you go vegetarian (that’s your choice), but I’m suggesting that you increase your intake of vegetables and fruits and decrease your meat consumption just a bit.
Not only is it cheaper, but you can also decrease your calorie intake as well.
